Why I don’t blog about politics, the news (and other things that makes me want to kill people and break stuff.)
Lincoln Adams | November 18, 2009 @ 4:05 pmI think the title explains it all.
Generally I pride myself for having a high threshold of tolerance for many things in life that other people would normally make their pet peeves. Politics, however, is not one of them. Indeed, the mere suggestion of anything even remotely passing a positive remark about Captain Anus (otherwise known as Mmm Mmm MMMMM, Barack HUSSEIN Obama) would cause me to explode in a fiery violent rage that would put even the Incredible Hulk to shame.
I’m beyond discussing this crap now. These days, I would simply resort to violence as I quickly look around for a blunt instrument to beat you to a bloody pulp with just for having the AUDACITY of not sharing my political worldview. Besides, this stuff gets old in a hurry. Everyday the news could be summed up with “Obama creates yet another clusterboink guaranteeing the premature destruction of the United States.” Eventually it gets stale.
Look, I get it. We need to be diligent and continue to pressure and basically harass the scum sucking America-hating politicians until they either flee office or get their love biscuits handed to them in the next election. That’s why I vote and donate, and even plan to attend rallies (although that third part has more to do with finding like minded hot babes than supporting grass roots political movements.) But hey, I’m there aren’t I, and that’s all that matters.
But honestly, listening about how Obama continues to bend over like a willing goat for terrorists and abortionists and Pelosi and peopled named Ahmadinejadaadgeasdgddfd just gets stale after a while. I don’t want my blog to be a sounding board for everything that has gone wrong with this country, but rather a respite from all that. So if it seems like I am blissfully ignorant of today’s current events as I continue to blog about my everyday travels around the world with my teddy bear, I do so willingly with my head buried 6 feet deep into the sand.
But not only that, I suspect also that my readers need a respite as well. A place to get away from it all and laugh a little at my expense as I try to grope my way through the darkness that is life, and maybe read something that would also remind them of some of the reasons why this country still continues to be the greatest in the world (minus my home town of course.)

Each to his own. Glad you do get involved while you can. But facing the realities and reporting on their negativity does not make the messenger negative, just truthful. The “right” as you know, has all manner of positive solutions..the wrong just don’t hear them–because then they’d have to be responsible.
Say, thought you were going to Stockbridge for Christmas?

Still, I may dabble every now and then if I’m feeling particularly disgruntled.
I’ll be in Stockbridge the first weekend of December, when they have their Norman Rockwell reenactment. Where I’ll be spending Christmas though is still up in the air for now, but it will likely be in Amish Country again… which by the way has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Hotel Girl will be there. Nothing at all.

Sounds exciting!

Could be worst, some things make me want to punch babies in the face…

Oh noes! Not the poor babies!

There’ll be no punching babies around here. But anyway, Linc what do ya think (see how naturally poetic I am?) about the quote below from Lin Yutang?
A good traveller is one who does not know where he is going to, and a perfect traveller does not know where he came from.
Lin Yutang
I’m thinking Lin was smokin’. You?

Talk once in awhile about politics…so I’m not the only one here fighting.
More important right now, I’m excited about your Stockbridge trip. Wanna see the photos–hoping for snow and what with global warming being a hoax, you may get a lot–and hear all the warm, cozy, sleigh-ride freezing details.

I’m hoping for snow too! But not TOO much snow, after all I do have to drive in it sooner or later.
I’m excited too, never done anything like this before, and never stayed in a 300 year old hotel either. My room has a fireplace too! It’s just for one night but it’s worth it just for that!

Regarding Lin, I would very much like to forget where I came from. I’d like to forget the stench too.

You are going to Stockbridge! NO WAY!!! We are tentatively going to be with horses and sleigh if there is snow. If not horses will be home and we might be there with just the small fourlegged…the woofwoof. Then we go the following weekend to Woodstock, VT for the Wassail. Now that is really, really FUN times for us horsey folks!
I would have never thought you would be into Norman Rockwell or anything like a Wassail Weekend.
It is absolutely, gorgeous and very festive there and are you staying at the Red Lion Inn???? Please say YES!
The Botanical Gardens are wonderful…oh it is sooo nice to getaway from it all and see everything from yesteryear.

Yes, was going to blog about it when I had a chance, but I’ll be staying at the Red Lion Inn, though only for one night, since that’s all I can afford, and that’s all they had available.
I do get a fireplace though, so I’m happy.
After that I’ll be at a normal roadside motel for the rest of the weekend.
I haven’t hammered out an itinerary yet, but I’m looking to wrap in a visit to the Festival Trees and the Bright Lights in Springfield while I’m there. And of course, some geocaching on the side too.
