Why is it whenever I hear someone expressing boundless excitement over watching the Olympics, I just want to bash their faces in with something hard?
I dunno. Could be because it’s taking place in Beijing, which is about as appealing as having it take place in say, 1936 Berlin. Really kinda makes it hard to root for the home team when they’re dancing around in smog filled Communist China:

They’re killing and persecuting Christians over there by the way, but that’s ok, Michael Phelps just broke a world record! Wheeeeeee!
Oh, and did anyone happen to notice (when they weren’t busy checking out the bare asses of Team USA’s volleyball team) that there’s a F&^*ING European war going on in Georgia?
God I hate this world.

Hmmm, I expressed excitement about the Olympics on Twitter. YOU follow my tweets. Does that mean you want to bash my face with something hard??!?
I understand what you mean though. DH and I were chatting about the same thing last night in regards to Russia and Georgia, and how there are many poor people in China yet their government can spend millions and millions of dollars on sports stadiums.
Truly is a screwed up world

Hey there, my little ray of sunshine!!!!!
So good to see you are still brightening the world with your wit and charming repartee!!!! You make me smile, even if you don’t mean to! Just stopped in to say hi….. oh, and in regard to an earlier post - while we here in Australia don’t do guns really, I have always been partial to the Baretta myself and were I to join a pistol club would want one. I’m with you my friend!
Rachel.

I agree with you my friend. I never watch the summer olympics. I might watch the ice skating during the winter olympics, but not if they were in a country I didn’t like.

@Tina: I refer only to people who think Georgia is a state here or that China has a democratically elected government. You know, like my coworkers.
Besides, I could never find the heart to bash that lovely, pretty face of yours in.
@Rachel: Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay, you too are the sunshine that brightens my day, even more so when you’re packing a Beretta.
@ConsrvYank: One event I would have loved to have seen in person was when the USA hockey team stomped the Soviet scumballs in 1980 at Lake Placid. I’ve been there several times and they have an Olympic museum honoring their achievements and many others.
Come to think of it, the Games should only be hosted by the USA or any ally of it. Really, where are they gonna host it next, the Sudan??? Libya maybe?

oooookay. Guess I’ll stay away for a while. I have too much work to do in the next few weeks to be nursing a bashed in face……
Guess the black and white blog look extends to your world view as well

I have shades of gray too! Somewhere around here I think….

I’m SO not interested in the Olympics. Never have been (okay, I lie - I used to have a fondness for figure skating). But yeah, yay for China - that government is seriously screwed up. They persecute EVERYONE over there, not just Christians. All the rumors I’ve been hearing about that place during the planning of the Olympics and now during them makes me dislike that country (not the PEOPLE - the COUNTRY) even more.
Yeah, there’s a war in Iraq & Afghanistan too still. Add Georgia to the list. Oh and Djibouti - there is military there also. My hubby is away in the desert - AGAIN - forgive me if I get political

I am 100% with you on this one. I have not watched one minute of the Olympics in Beijing and don’t plan to. It is sad that a place such as China is being used to host such a terrific celebration of athleticism and national pride.

Hopefully it will be hosted at a better place next time, one that preferably has a democracy.
