I think Christians can find virtues that are not far removed from Christianity in HP. For example the whole good against evil plot. I myself can find many occult ideas in the Bible as well. Things like arising from the grave (like reincarnation), or prophetic visions like following a star (astrology). People will obsess about one thing or another. Then again I’m not a christian. I’m Wiccan and we don’t have qualms about witchcraft so I guess I’ll just let christians decide what they can or can’t read. Just thought I’d give an outsiders view. Well then I’m outta here, I’ve got to study New critics, formalists, structuralists, and whatever other kinds of critcism there is. Ick..

You guys need to stop wasting your time talking about how Harry Potter isn’t holy enough for you and you need to read the books and find out for yourself how Harry Potter focuses on the most important religious things I bet you don’t understand!! The things you say to us Harry Potter obsessors is SOOO mean and that is like the least Christion thing in the world. You say you hate Harry Potter Christians…exactly why do you hate them?? How can you hate faithful people to god just because there’s a stinking book series they like. Sorry, but I don’t think insulting people and hating Christians just because they have a life and actually read GOOD books sounds very god-worshipping to me. You are soooo mean and instead you could be doing some good in the world instead of insulting someone because they like Harry Potter. What a waste of time.

Wow…CA…you let your child read something that glorifies witchcraft, occultism, and secularism? What WOULDN’T you let him read?
Fact is, Satan wants to infiltrate our children’s minds at a young age, before they’ve matured enough in spirituality and Biblical teaching to discern the spirit behind something. As parents, we have that responsibility. Why not substitue HP with the Chronicles of Narnia? It’s just as fairy-tale like, has young heroes, and teaches a Christian world-view.

I used to hate the Harry Potter Hype, too, then I read it and loved it- but who am I to preach? I’m not a bloody Jehova.

Actually not all Christians adore him. Some of the more ‘conservative’ christian groups denounce the books use of themes involving witchcraft etc. Im definately not one of these groups I consider them to be Self-Rightoues but I still am NOT a fan of Harry Potter.

I don’t like Harry Potter because of my religious beliefs, I hate because the entire story and plot is so pathetically bad and should not be considered as a literary classic. On the other hand books like the Lord of the Rings are a one million times better than Harry Potter and Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling pale in comparison to Lord of the Rings and J.R.R. Tolkien.
